When Energy Healing First Became More Than An Idea

Some experiences do not announce themselves as turning points. At the time, they may look ordinary. A conversation. An invitation. A name that stays in the mind longer than expected. A journey to meet someone. A disappointment that only makes sense years later. That was how energy healing first happened in my life.

Before I became a certified Quantum-Touch® Practitioner, before I understood the depth of Life-Force Energy, and before Energy Healing with Gloria became part of my private work, there was Reiki.

Not as a profession or as a service. Not yet as a path. At first, it was simply a word that caught my attention.

Reiki. The name stayed with me.

The First Invitation

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice. The word is often understood through two parts: Rei, meaning universal, and Ki, meaning life energy.

It is not a religion. It is not a massage. It does not depend on force, belief, or suggestion. At its essence, Reiki is a subtle energy practice that supports the body’s natural ability to rebalance.

At that stage, I did not know enough to analyse it. I only knew there was something about the idea of energy work that felt familiar, even before I had the language for it.

A friend visiting from Brazil wanted me to experience Reiki. She was staying with a family, and in that home, there was an older woman who practised Reiki and had many years of experience with energy work and plant-based healing methods.

My friend said she thought I would like it. She felt there was something in me that belonged to this kind of work. At the time, I did not know whether she was right. But I was open. So I went.

The Session That Did Not Happen

The journey was long, but curiosity carried me there. The home was calm, warm, and ordinary in the best way. A family home. Nothing theatrical. Nothing staged. Just a quiet domestic setting with a sense of welcome.

There was a child there, about seven years old, open and direct in the way children often are. He asked many questions. I answered as well as I could in German, even though my German was poor at the time and I had very little confidence speaking it. But the child made the whole situation easier. His naturalness softened the discomfort.

After lunch, I thought the Reiki session would begin. Instead, the practitioner said she was not in the mood. At the time, I did not understand that statement.

Not in the mood?

To my earlier mind, it sounded almost irresponsible. I had travelled a long way. I had prepared myself for an experience. I was disappointed. But then she explained.

She said she was not in a good internal state and did not want to bring that into the session. She felt I was in a better place than she was, and she preferred not to work from where she was internally. At the time, I only partly understood. Years later, I understood more clearly.

What That Moment Taught Me

Energy work requires responsibility. It is not performance. It is not simply placing hands near or on the body because an appointment exists. The practitioner’s role requires steadiness, care, and respect for the person receiving.

In energy healing, the person receiving is not passive. Their own internal healer is active.

The practitioner is not the healer in the absolute sense. The practitioner supports, holds, and works with Life-Force Energy, but the healing intelligence belongs to the person’s own system.

That distinction matters.

The body is not an object being repaired from the outside. It has its own intelligence, its own timing and a way of responding when the right conditions are present.

Looking back, that first Reiki encounter taught me something before I ever received a session. It taught me that energy work must be approached with care. I did not receive Reiki that day. But I received an impression. And sometimes the impression arrives before the teaching.

The Path Returned Through Quantum-Touch®

For a while, I forgot about Reiki. The disappointment stayed longer than the curiosity. I associated the experience with mood, emotional instability, and uncertainty. At that time in my life, I already had enough emotional weight in my system. I was not looking for another practice that seemed dependent on someone else’s inner state.

Then Quantum-Touch entered my life. Quantum-Touch changed the way I understood energy healing.

My Quantum-Touch Level 1 instructor was also a Reiki Master, and during the training, he often referred to Reiki and the similarities between the two modalities. Because of what I experienced through Quantum-Touch, I began to look at Reiki differently. Not through the lens of disappointment but through the lens of energy.

Quantum-Touch gave me a direct experience of Life-Force Energy. It helped me understand that energy work is not vague when it is practised with skill, breath, attention, and respect for the body’s natural intelligence. It also changed my relationship with my own healing process.

Before supporting others, I did a great deal of work on myself. That mattered. It still matters.

Energy Healing Is Not A Wellness Performance

Energy healing is not something I now treat as a casual wellness trend. It is not an aesthetic or a spiritual performance. It is a quiet, precise, restorative practice for people whose systems have been carrying pressure, stress, pain, or emotional weight for too long.

After Quantum-Touch, I eventually returned to Reiki and completed Reiki Level 1. Level 1 is often considered the foundation: self-healing, family, and close relationships. I completed the 21 days of self-practice, working with the chakras and reconnecting with the body and the earth in a way that felt different from Quantum-Touch.

Again, something shifted. Not in a loud or exaggerated way, but in a way that was difficult to ignore.

From the moment I registered for the course, life seemed to reorganise itself around the direction I was already moving towards. There were synchronicities. Colours. Animals. Conversations. People I met who led me towards workshops I did not know I needed. Unexpected choices that turned out to be useful. Practical support arrived at the right moment. Opportunities appeared, or perhaps I had finally become clear enough to recognise them.

That is often how energy work reveals itself. Not always as a dramatic event. Sometimes, as a deepening of perception. A quieter body. A clearer direction, even a different relationship with timing. A greater ability to notice what supports life and what drains it.

The Body Carries The Evidence

Energy healing has continued to teach me that the human system is layered. We carry more than we realise. Stress, emotional attachment, environmental pressure, pain, fatigue, and old internal patterns do not always leave through thinking alone. The mind may analyse the discomfort, but the body carries the evidence.

This is where energy healing becomes relevant for the person who is tired of trying to think their way into balance. It offers a different kind of support. Not mental pressure or another strategy, nor a demand to improve, but a private restorative space where the system can be supported without being pushed, analysed, or overwhelmed.

Energy Healing with Gloria

Energy Healing with Gloria now exists from that understanding. It is not built on the early excitement of discovering a modality. It is built on lived experience, private practice, and respect for the client’s own healing process.

My work is quiet. It is one-to-one. It is not designed for spectacle. It is for the person who needs a private restorative space where the body can be supported with care, clarity, and respect.

The practitioner does not dominate the process. The session supports the internal healer, the intelligence within the client’s own system. That intelligence is already present. Energy healing provides the conditions for it to respond.

This is why energy work cannot be fully understood through explanation alone. It has to be experienced, not because belief is required but because the body understands through direct contact, sensation, and response.

A Restorative Space For The System

Energy healing may support relaxation, emotional settling, energetic balance, and a deeper sense of connection with the body. It does not replace medical care, diagnosis, or treatment.

It sits in a different place: the private, restorative space where the system is given room to relax, settle, and reorganise.

That first Reiki invitation in 2017 did not unfold the way I expected. But it opened a door. Quantum-Touch later gave that door structure, practice, and direction.

Today, Energy Healing with Gloria is the mature expression of that path: private, respectful, grounded energy work for those who are ready to reconnect with the intelligence of their own system. Because healing is not something the practitioner performs on you, it is something your own system remembers how to participate in when the right conditions are present.
