Resistance

Resistance makes us sick

I think healing is a 7-centered word. I guess "heal" is a four-letter word, if I can be cute. Because I don’t think this is what this is all about. I don't think it has anything to do, in that sense, with healing. I think it just simply has to do with alignment. You align somebody to what is correct. This is just simply the destiny of what it is to be a 9-centered being.

To be healthy is the only thing that matters. After all, you can be lucky, you can be rich but if you’re not healthy it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter. Life is a horror when you’re not healthy. And living out your design is automatically about being healthy. Automatically. See resistance makes us sick. That’s what it does, it makes us sick.

The point is not about curing. It is about alignment.

Healing vs Alignment

“Healing” implies something is broken and needs fixing.

Alignment implies something is out of place and needs correcting.

Human Design does not position itself as therapy. It does not promise recovery in the conventional sense. It speaks about orientation, about aligning a person with what is mechanically correct for them. When alignment is restored, unnecessary resistance reduces. And resistance, sustained over time, is costly.

Resistance as Chronic Friction

In a previous reflection on Misuse of Energy, we addressed how people force themselves through environments, relationships, and careers that do not fit.

That forcing is resistance.

Resistance is not simply difficulty; it is prolonged misalignment.

When the body continuously moves in a direction that is not correct, effort increases. Internal friction builds. Stress compounds. The system compensates.

Over time, this compensation depletes vitality.

This is not mystical. It is mechanical.

Health as Coherence

Ra’s statement that “living your design is automatically about being healthy” must be understood precisely.

It does not mean living correctly guarantees perfect health. It means that when the body is not fighting itself, it operates with greater coherence.

Less internal contradiction.
Less forced output.
Less chronic overextension.

Health, in this context, is not the absence of illness. It is the absence of unnecessary resistance.

The Cost of Ignoring Resistance

When resistance is ignored, the mind typically intensifies control.

More strategy.
More planning.
More pushing.

But resistance does not disappear through force. It increases.

Burnout, emotional collapse, and chronic tension, these are often the accumulated cost of repeatedly overriding the body’s signals. The tragedy is that much of this resistance was avoidable.

Alignment Is Not Dramatic

Alignment does not feel like triumph. It often feels like a reduction.

Less struggle or struggle in alignment with your nature, less proving or no proving at all, less forcing or no forcing at all.

The body moves to where and when it has energy. Withdraws where and when it does not. It responds where and when there is life, declines where and when there is friction or scale through the friction in alignment with energy availability.

This is not healing theatre. It is a mechanical adjustment.

Resistance Makes Us Sick, In What Sense?

Resistance creates chronic internal stress. Chronic stress disrupts coherence. Disruption sustained over time affects vitality.

The body is designed to navigate life. It is not designed to be overridden continuously by a conditioned mind trying to meet external expectations. When that override becomes constant, the system destabilises. Distabilisation creates dis-ease.

Alignment restores order in the body. Not perfection. Not immunity. Order.

Living correctly does not remove life’s unpredictability. It removes unnecessary self-opposition. And that alone changes everything.
